Our Go-To Solo Dripper Recipe

A calm, clean brew inspired by this year’s world champion — plus our favourite iced version for the heat.

Hey Coffee Lovers,

George Peng just won the 2025 World Brewers Cup — using a custom Solo Dripper.
That win got us excited, not just because we love that brewer too, but because it reflects a style of coffee we believe in: thoughtful, simple, precise.

This week, we’re sharing two ways we brew with the Solo — our go-to hot recipe, and an iced version that’s perfect for warm days.

Hot Solo Dripper Recipe

Coffee: 15g (we used our Timor Leste Railaco – Natural)
Grind size: Medium-fine
Water: 240g at 93°C
Total brew time: ~2:45–3:00 min

Pour Breakdown:

  • 0:00 – Bloom with 45g water

  • 0:40 – Pour 100g (up to 145g total)

  • 1:30 – Pour 95g (up to 240g total)

  • 2:15–3:00 – Let it draw down

💡 Pro tip: Swirl gently after the final pour for a cleaner, brighter cup.

🔧 Tweak it how you like:

  • Juicier body: Slightly coarser grind, quicker pours

  • More clarity: Finer grind, slower bloom

  • Softer sweetness: Go slow on the final pour

❄️ Iced Solo Dripper Recipe

Coffee: 20g
Ice in server: 100g
Hot water: 200g at 93°C
Total brew time: ~2:30–3:00 min
Grind size: Medium

Pour Breakdown:

  • 0:00 – Bloom with 40g

  • 0:45 – Pour 40g (80g total)

  • 1:15 – Pour 60g (140g total)

  • 1:45 – Pour 60g (200g total)

  • Let it draw down directly over the 100g of ice

💡 Pro tip: A gentle swirl after the last pour gives you a more even extraction and cleaner cup.

🔧 Iced Adjustments:

  • More body: Coarser grind, less ice (80g)

  • Brighter cup: Finer grind, longer bloom, full 100g ice

  • Cleanest cup: Reduce pour agitation, center your pour

Have a brew and let us know how you go!

Brew steady,
The folks at Prodigal Co.
